August 4 - 10

Monday
- Friends Mason & Hudson were still with us for the day. Holly took all the kids swimming at our other friend's the Cantus. Austin went from swimming to "Shibby" which is the new freshmen introduction to the Sr. High Ministry. They were supposed to go tubing in San Marcos, but Tropical Storm Edouard was looming and they decided not to travel even though it was away from the storm.

Tuesday - Coaches Outreach was at 7am (picture up top). I left there and went over to my buddy Dave's shop to change the oil in Holly's car. The school's were closed because of Tropical Storm Edouard and the church office closes when the schools close, so I went home (even though it didn't look at all Tropical stormy!) When I got home I played Phase 10 with family. Never really saw much of the effects of the storm although Magnolia saw some strong winds, but no serious damage (a large tree fell over at the house where Austin was staying for Shibby).

Wednesday - staff meeting

Thursday - Attended Willow Creek Leadership Summit at Fellowship of the Woodlands with the staff. It was one of the best conferences I've attended. Bill Hybels is certainly used of the Lord, but is also a ministry genius.

Friday -
Willow Creek Leadership Summit continued and was just as amazing as the first day. Dinner with staff and wives at Landry's Seafood! Tyler went to his FIRST youth group function (as an incoming 6th grader) called "Shibby" which is the new 6th graders introduction to the youth ministry. Overnight fun.

Saturday - Lazy day until 4:30pm and then Holly and I headed off to see the Pastor sing with his old choir (classmates and other alumni) at the Houston Baptist University Reunion concert. Favorite babysitter of the boys, Rebekah Fontenot took the boys to a movie.

Sunday - Pretty typical Sunday morning, but we celebrated Tyler's birthday at lunch. We had all signed a b-day card for him and when he read it he started crying and said "Thanks guys". It was very sweet.

July 28 - August 3

Monday - Went to the doctor because my allergies had been crazy for several weeks (stopped up - nose dripping - stopped up, eyes watering, etc.) The Nurse-practioner gave me a shot of cortisone and some antibiotics. Austin spent the night at the Cantu's, then left there and went to see the new Batman movie for the second time with one of the summer youth interns. Then called to tell us he was spending the night with the intern and some others (didn't have extra clothes or toothbrush & deodorant, but he didn't care. Said he would "borrow" some).

Tuesday
- I started work on our FBC University (discipleship) brochure. We will have NINE discipleship courses to offer this fall including a DivorceCare group, Five Love Languages, Family Issues (conflict and addictions), Jesus on Money, The Truth Project, Crucial Conversations, Sign Language for Worship, Deep Thoughts, and Men's Fraternity: Winning at Work and Home. After spending the whole day with the summer intern, Austin called us and said all the Jr. High guys were spending the night up at the church. Again, no clothes, no toiletries.

Wednesday
- More work on the brochure for FBC Univ.

Thursday
- Tyler had first full contact practice at football. He loved it!

Friday
-

Saturday
- Today was our annual "Back to School, INC" at the church. We gave out almost 1000 backpacks and pairs of shoes to children, gave immunizations to about 75 and haircuts to probably 50. Tyler and Austin's friends, Mason and Hudson came over for the weekend while their parents were in Kemah.

Sunday
- Long day: Meet the Pastor's lunch, Rehearsal
